Main purpose

iGoogle is a customizable homepage

iGoogle lets you create a personalized homepage. iGoogle homepage contains a Google search box at the top, and below you can put gadgets.

Gadgets are a piece of reusable code that you can plug into virtually inside specific set of websites. Gadgets come in lots of different forms and provide access to activities and information from different pages all across the web. Google offers following gadgets:

   * View your latest Gmail messages
   * Read headlines from Google News and other top news sources
   * Check out weather forecasts
   * Stock quotes
   * Store bookmarks for quick access to your favorite sites from any computer
   * Make notes or to-do list
   * Design your own gadget

iGoogle page

To start using iGoogle you don't need to create an account, and then your iGoogle page is saved just on the computer that you are using. Signing in with a Google account before you start lets you save your iGoogle page across computers.

Gadgets let you use tools, read info, and play games all that from one web page. Click Add stuff to add gadgets. Once you find a gadget you'd like to add, click Add it now. Then click the Back to iGoogle home link at the upper left side of the page to get back to your page. You can arrange gadgets by dragging and dropping them on the page or you can have more tabs and more gadgets on them (default tab is Home). If necessary, edit your gadgets' settings by clicking the down-arrow in the title bar and choosing Edit settings.
