Main purpose

Elgg is free and open-source social networking platform. Although it is primary intended for social networking, one of it's functionalities is ePortfolio. Users can created their ePortfolio presentation to present themselves to colleagues and potential employers.

Useful information

Elgg can be used as a very powerful tool for social networking in general. Activity streams an one of it's features help user to keep up to date with all site activity. Elgg is looking to build SSO (Single-Sign-On) as a 3rd party module to be interoperable with other system such as Moodle.
