The students can perform the Self-introduction e-tivity at the begining of a course. In this online activity students present themselves to other students in a group by telling them something about themselves, e.g. their educational background, hobies, talents, fields of personal expertise, etc. This e-tivity enables the students of a group or a team to get to know each other better and work more effectively on a project or participate in discussions on course topics. However, it is important that the students do not disclose publicly their identity or private information about themselves (phone number, address, e-mail). They can use only their first name and initial(s)/abbreviations of the surname (e.g. "John_B" or "Marc_L") This activity can also be used as an ice-breaker in a predominantly online study group.

The Web 2.0 tools that can be used for this e-tivity are blogs, video sharing (YouTube), voice recording/publishing or audio podcasting, online comic strip creation (Bubblr), online presentations / video tagging, etc.
