During the e-tivity Photo / video illustrations the students are asked to create or perform online search for photos or videos which illustrate specific course topics, phenomena, processes, concepts, theories, products, etc. Themes from literature, art, history, geography, natural sciences, technology, social sciences, and other disciplines can be visualized and better explained by use of this online activity which facilitates cognitive learning. However, copyright issues must be taken into account and students must be warned of them before they engage in this e-tivity. For some topics audio material can also be collected (sounds, music, recordings of speaches, etc.). Furthermore, the students can record audio of their oral explanation for colected photos or add subtitles to video clips.

This is a rather simple online activity that results with collections of resources that can supplement official teaching material (literature) for the course. The students can present their collections of photos or videos by using wiki pages, blog posts, photo or video sharing websites (Flicr, YouTube), as well as online presentation tools (SlideSix). When these resources are placed on the web, they can also use social bookmarking
