The e-tivity Examples and non-examples supports cognitive learning. Concept acquisition can be aided by providing examples for a specific phenomena, as well as “non-examples” in a form “this is not X”. Students may search for examples of a certain animal species, texts that illustrate grammar rules, etc. Also, they may look for similar animal species or texts that are not of specified category. For instance, examples and non-examples of certain types of bridges (arch, beam, cantilever, cable-stayed, suspension) can be presented with Flickr, YouTube, online presentation tools like SlideSix, etc. Also, specimens, simulations, role-play, models and other methods can be used for this e-tivity. The students can search the web and provide links to collections of examples and non-examples with Delicious or other social bookmarking service.
