Main purpose

Ning is great tool which allows you to create your own social network. The network has admin site, home site, dashboard panel, members site, forum section, blog section, photo&video publishing sites, chat application and supports adding widgets.

Useful information

If you want to create your own networks you need to sign up to this application. After you create an account you choose your network name and domain.

Pros

• easy to use
• supports widgets
• chat&message application
• posting status update to profile and to Twitter
• different templates theme

Cons

• blog is restricted to 100.000 characters
• bad text editor
• no undo option
• problems with private chat
• problems with an account
• security problems (it stays logged in as long as you don't make log out - weeks, months...)
