Students reflect on their thoughts or emotional reactions related to a specific topic (political campaign, environmental issue, actual or former relationship, etc.). This is best performed ''anonymously'' and the students have to be reminded of potential consequences regarding privacy and inappropriate self-disclosure. Other students perform a ''literature search'' and try to provide theoretical background or model that is associated with the data provided with the results of introspection. Instead of genuine introspection students can simulate introspection of a fictional character or play a specific role.

The results of introspection can be presented as blog posts or in form of [http://www.youtube.com/ YouTube] video and commented by other students. An open source blog tool can be used (e.g. [http://wordpress.org/ WordPress]) or a blogging site like [www.blogger.com Blogger]. Microblogging is also possible with [http://twitter.com/ Twitter].
